Have you fallen out of love with your garden? More often than not, the Autumn garden tidy up never happens and then, before we know it, the Spring is upon us. Your garden suddenly becomes more of a liability than a relaxing spot to enjoy the outdoors.

Now that the weather has warmed up, it’s a perfect time to transform your outdoor space. When transforming your garden, even a small upgrade to your garden can make a big difference! It could be that you just want to refresh the look and feel or, perhaps, you are thinking of a complete redesign?

A few things to bear in mind before you start.

Lawn size

Understand why your lawn is a  particular size or shape currently? Does it suit your future plans? When determining what size lawn you want to have – consider that the bigger your lawn, the more maintenance is actually involved. Unless you really love mowing your lawn every couple of weeks in the summer, why not spend time in the garden actually enjoying it? You should consider accommodating for some activities, if not your own, then your children or grandchildren. And perhaps, creating some privacy with shrubs, trees and fences.

Room or sheds outside

‘Posh sheds’ and ‘man caves’ have been on trend for the past few years now. They can add real value to your outdoor living space and your property as a whole. Having a garden room can mean that whatever the weather, you can still enjoy your garden (and ultimately have your own peaceful sanctuary to reflect and unwind!)

Outdoor sitting and cooking area

BBQ’s or lunch in the sun are great British pastimes but don’t always work in practice… Cold temperatures and unpredictable downpours are just too much to deal with!

Adding a bit of structure to your garden could create a great hideout and a focal point, with your guests enjoying the space around too. Why not incorporate a wood burner or a fire bowl into the design too?
